Watched a short on how to take apart most chairs. Mine was a bit stubborn but separated as shown. Measured and matched up the replacement, Got in 3 days !! Done.

I was impressed with the construction of the cylinder. It is heavy-duty and well made. A tip: the ends are both tapered, so just use channelocks or hammer and tap end out of chair, no need to take chair apart.

My adjustable shop stool was driving me crazy the past few years. I put off buying a new one, but then found chairpartsonline. Sweet.
The old cylinder took some coaxing to get off. After that, it took all of 10 seconds to install the new one.
I wish I'd have found out about getting a new cylinder sooner! My shop stool is rock solid when adjusting height.
Couldn't be happier!

Ordered the heavy duty cylinder and it is very strong, like sitting on a brick. Does not give like regular cylinders or spongy feeling.
