Chair sinks when you sit in it:

Most Likely: Gas cylinder seal has gone bad.

Cure: Replace the gas cylinder.

Note: Replacing the hardware will not solve this issue. (photo)

Runner Up: A set screw in your mechanism is activating the button on your cylinder

Cure: Adjust the set screw by locating it (straight up above the cylinder, inside the mechanism) and using an allen/hex key to retract as far as possible.

Note: This is more likely if you just replaced the cylinder with a new one and it's sinking out of the box.

 

A little rod is sticking through the bottom of the chair:

Most Likely: Your hardware has been misplaced or broken. (photo

Cure: Replace the hardware.

 

Chair wobbles:

Most Likely: The weld may be broken on your mechanism. (photo)

Cure: Replace the mechanism.

Runner Up: The bushing is working its way out of the cylinder column. (photo)

Cure: Replace the gas cylinder.

Also Plausible: Broken caster or broken base leg

Cure: Replace casters or base.

Plausible Runner Up: The white bearing inside the gas cylinder is broken.

Cure: Replace the hardware kit only.

 

Chair goes up on its own:

Most Likely: A set screw in your mechanism is activating the button on your cylinder (this is more likely if you just replaced the cylinder with a new one and it's sinking)

Cure: Adjust the set screw by locating it (straight up above the cylinder, inside the mechanism) and using an allen/hex key to retract as far as possible.

 

Floors are scratched:

Most Likely: You have hard-wheel casters.

Cure: Upgrade to soft-wheel casters.

 

Caster tread is crumbling:

Most Likely: The casters are old and wearing out

Cure: Replace casters.
 
Runner Up: The flooring or wheels are exposed to UV radiation, or due to the use of heavy cleaners on the flooring or wheels.
 
Cure: Replace casters.
